What the user needs

A Threads profile. Nothing else — no professional account, no page.

Publishing behaviour

Threads is the most permissive of the four on media: content alone with no mediaItems is a valid post. What is not valid is neither — a post with no text and no media is rejected. 2 or more media items publish as a carousel in the order you send them. Threads' own ceiling is 20 items, but Chirio's request-level cap of 10 mediaItems binds first, so 10 is the practical maximum. The 500-character limit is the tightest of the four after X, so a caption written for LinkedIn will usually fail here. See Platforms overview for how to handle that.

First comments

A Threads first comment is a reply to the post that was just published, from the same profile. Limit 500 characters, the same as a post. If a comment fails with a permission error, the connection predates Threads' reply permission — reconnecting fixes it, and the failure message says so.
